Bio: Mike Hastie, Army Medic Viet Nam

My father was a career Army officer, and World War II combat veteran. I spent my early youth on military bases in the United States, to include Japan and Germany. I absolutely loved my country, until I came back from Viet Nam as an Army medic. The core belief system I was raised with came back in a body bag.

Mike Hastie was on a VFP Delegation to Okinawa late August, early September to witness an Island under seige and the courageous resistance of Okinawans waging peace.

Earlier this year Mike Hastie of Veteran For Peace Chapter 72 accompanied Veteran S. Brian Willson & Becky Luening to Viet Nam. Mike visited the My Lai massacre site and noticed an incredible historical mosaic mural ravaged by climate & time. He inquired into how much it would cost to repair and restore and on his return to the United States began a My Lai Mural Project to raise the necessary funds for repair.
